SYNOPSIS

Extraordinary state-of-the-art FPS with beautiful shaders and accurat physics. Nothing for casual gamers with slow PCs, but surely worth a try for the lucky owners of high end gaming PCs.

STORY

Actually there is a story. Fair enough, normally these Multiplayer FPS lack totally a story. But actually, when you read the story fo Cellfactor Revolution, you know why. Let's play a game: I only tell you some keywords and you have to guess what the story in Cellfactor is:

- LIMBO, bad technology company
- cataklysmic events
- army of supersoldiers
- PSI abilities

Know what I mean?

GAMEPLAY

Cellfactor is a First Person Shooter. That means, WASD-moving, mouselooking, mouseshooting. Nothing special there, gameplay as we know and love it. Yet Cellfactor presents some new features, concerning freeware FirstPersonShooters: PSI Powers! I have to tell you, I like them, I already liked them in PSI-Cops - they are nice to look at and and extremely fun to use. In Cellfactor, you have the possibility to either push (big image above) or pull quite a lot of items in the levels. When pushing, everything in range will be blasted away, when pulling you can levitate and hold one certain item. Of course you can combine these abilities to first hold something, and then blast it away onto an opponent.
I myself am a bit disapointed by the slowliness of the movement. But that's for sure a question of taste and customization. I don't like Battlefield for the same reason. For me, if you run in both Battlefield or Cellfactor it is like taking a nice stroll in te afternoon, concerning speed. I enjoy something like Quake III or even better, Doom 2. That is fast!

COMMENT

Cellfactor Revolution is a absolutely state-of-the-art gaming experience concerning graphics and physics. Maybe the Crisis-Engine is a bit better, but not much. Beautiful shaders distort, blur, blend and bloom everything you see. Of course, these features come with a high price concerning hardware. And here's some important fact why this game is freeware: It supports and advertises the AgeiaPhysX accelerator. Luckily you don't HAVE to possess such a card, but it would improve he performance of the game greatly. But even if you have the PhysX you will still need a high-end gaming PC, fast CPU and quite a lot of RAM. So this game won't be for any casual gamer with its 1,5 GHz AMD-whatever-PC.
Yet if you have a good PC, you should test this very extensive and impressing physical PSI-FPS. Just for the joy of blasting some crates away, only with your mind...
