SYNOPSIS
Arcade at its best, concerning both graphics and gameplay. Nothing more, nothing less. Excellent.
STORY
Sector 9 already was the scene of alien invasion in 'Ambush in Sector 9'. Unfortunatly Sector 9 doesn't seem to be clean yet - again and again hordes of aliens invade the zone you try to defend. UNfortunatly? Well, maybe not. Maybe luckily. So you get the chance to kick some alien butt...
GAMEPLAY
The gameplay is not really innovative, you soon will be comfortable with it. You steer a small ship in asteroid-like-fashion, yet you don't blast asteroids away, but alien ships of different kind and size. From time to time you get the chance to collect some upgrades for your weapons. You should do that - not just for the nice graphical effects.
R2S9 is a game made with gamemaker, and proves yet again that you CAN program highly professional games with gamemaker. Nice glow effects, smooth menu and excellent gameplay provide and continuous enjoyable gaming experience.
COMMENT
Try to destroy all ships of an alien wave and you will be rewarded with new ships, weapons or gamemodes. This is one of the reasons why this gamemaker game stands out amongst others: It has a huge list of features, different gamemodes, enemies and weapons. The game is not only very nice to look at, but with the immense quantity of variations in gameplay surely has a high replay value . Even if you don't enjoy a small game of asteroids you should try this game. Return to Sector 9 is a highly enjoyable arcade title.
