This game came as a surprise to me, to be honest. I wasn't sure about the looks of it, it seemed like concerning the design it could be a win or a fail.
Thank god for tutorials! Many indiegames (and some bigger ones!) already fail by NOT having a decent tutorial. How would you enjoy a game without knowing how to play it? Tutorials are important! And Attack of the Paper Zombies does everything right concerning his tutorial: well structured, easy to understand.
The mechanics of the game are not very complicated, but well chosen and essential when mastering the game. This is the part I like most about this game: Everything seems to be in place, that is: nothing is redundant - each feature makes sense and is crucial for victory. And this makes AotPZ so interesting to play. Your enemies evolve, and you have to keep their pace. The graphics are simple, but, as the gamefeatures, they are functional and serve the gameplay.
For me a perfect strategy game, with missions and random maps - a high replay value and lots of fun.
